Mak joined the LWSRA team in 2018 as a Recreation Specialist. He spent the past two years as a program manager at the Great Lakes Adaptive Sport Association before returning to LWSRA in his current role as Athletics Supervisor in 2024. 

He attended University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Sport & Tourism. He  completed his first internship at the Paralympic training site with the Lakeshore Foundation in Birmingham, AL. He also completed his internship with Wheelchair Basketball Canada at the Toronto Pan-American Sports Centre in Ontario, Canada. Mak played wheelchair basketball for the University of Illinois, serving as team captain his junior and senior seasons. Following his college career, Mak played professionally in the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation for the French leagues where he won a professional championship.

Mak is a native of Long Beach, California and was a member of Team USA Amputee Soccer, having competed in the 2018 Amputee Soccer World Cup in Mexico and the 2019 President’s Cup in Costa Rica where Team USA took first place. He currently competes in Division 1 of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association and is a past champion of the North American Wheelchair Basketball League.
