LWSRA welcomes participants of all ages and ability levels whose needs may not be met by a traditional park district program. The variety of programs offered for individuals with intellectual or physical disabilities actively promote socialization, skill development and independence!

Member Districts
Member Park Districts are active members of the Special Recreation Cooperative allowing each district to levy additional tax dollars in order to provide ADA funds to LWSRA which make up a portion of the annual budget. In addition, each district retains a portion of the tax levy to provide funding for ADA upgrades at their own parks and facilities. Residents who are taxpayers of one of the seven member districts are eligible to participate in LWSRA programs at resident pricing.

Special and Cooperative Agreements

SPECIAL AGREEMENTS

LWSRA has special agreements with the Village of Monee and Homer Township to allow residents of those taxing bodies to participate at a discounted non-resident rate.

Village of Monee: Households that are within Village of Monee boundaries will be allowed to register at in-district rates with the out-of-town fees to be covered by the Village (subject to a seasonal cap dependent on registration).

Homer Township: Residents of Homer Township are eligible to receive up to 66% off the additional out-of-town fee that is charged after the normal resident rate. Registrants are responsible for the remaining 34% of out-of-town fees added to each resident price.

Peotone CUSD 207U: Taxpayers of Peotone CUSD 207U  who reside in unincorporated areas of Peotone, Monee or Green Garden Township (not tax payers of the Village of Monee or Peotone Park District), shall be allowed to register for LWSRA programs at resident rates provided the participant is currently enrolled in classes at Peotone CUSD 207U. A household who requests to apply this agreement shall provide proof of enrollment in Peotone CUSD 207U prior to each school year and taxing body verification (via copy of their property tax bill or through the Will County Supervisor of Assessments website). The household shall notify LWSRA at any point the participant is no longer enrolled in Peotone CUSD 207U and be charged the non-resident rate for future registration.

Northern Will County Special Recreation Association (NWCSRA) Cooperative

LWSRA has a cooperative agreement with NWCSRA. The purpose of this Agreement is to enable participants who reside in LWSRA and NWCSRA resident communities to participate in most programs offered by either association at rates discounted from the traditional non-resident cost with the exceptions listed below. The intent is not to duplicate services. If both agencies offer the same or similar program, non-residents may register at the non-resident price.

1. Special Services such as scholarships and door to door transportation are not included in this Agreement.
2. Participants who wish to register for adult day program (TITANS), day camps, vacation trips, away camps and weekend trips may do so at non-resident rates.
3. Early bird discounts or any other discounts do not apply under this agreement. Registration may take place after the deadline is reached for agency residents. Registrations will then be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis.

All other agency policies and guidelines apply to individuals who register for programs under this Agreement. We hope that through this agreement, each agency’s residents will have expanded opportunities for program participation. NWCSRA residents are taxpayers of the Bolingbrook, Lockport Township and Plainfield Park Districts or the Village of Romeoville.
