LWSRA strives to be active in our local communities through community outreach, disability awareness events and offering public events that ensure community engagement. Together we can continue to build a community without limits for individuals with disabilities!

LWSRA annually hosts an Ability Awareness Fair welcoming multiple service providers. Vendors range from therapy centers and residential living facilities to state funding resources and advocacy groups. Take me there now!

Information sessions and parent support groups are held periodically during the year to provide additional resources to family members. Take me there now!

Schools

In the Schools: Assemblies and “P.E. take-over” days allow LWSRA to reach out to youth, teens and adults in the community to build a better understanding and acceptance of those with physical or developmental disabilities. Take me there now!

Fieldtrips to the LWSRC: LWSRA staff members facilitate interactive activities for special services students from area school districts during scheduled visits to the Lincolnway Special Recreation Center. Take me there now!

Open House/Community Nights: LWSRA’s outreach team is available to attend open house/community nights to provide information on recreational services available in the community to families of individuals with special needs. Take me there now!

Sensory Friendly Events: Community Park District events attract thousands of attendees, but in an effort to create a more sensory friendly environment, LWSRA partners with its local park districts to provide sensory friendly times and accommodations. Take me there now!

Service Organizations: Our team members are also involved through memberships in several local service organizations. Take me there now!
